Position Overview: The Key Account Manager serves as strategic commercial leader for Wabtec’s business and sales growth in South Korea, taking full ownership of commercial strategy and key account portfolio encompassing the overall customer product portfolio. As a key member of local leadership team reporting to Managing Director of South Korea, this role requires a highly capable sales individual with a good depth of experience in driving growth through a high level of activity. Experience in customer facing roles within high engineering value add products and systems is required and experience in the rail industry is highly desirable. The Key Account Manager will serve as the key interface with the customer and effectively manage interactions across the full range of Wabtec Transit products.

 

Who will you be working with?

In this role, you will ensure strategic alignment and delivery of business targets for South Korea entity. You will serve as the primary liaison with local Korean customers, developing influential relationships at all levels of customer organizations and building strong partnerships to maintain trust and satisfaction.

 

Internally, you will engage directly with key stakeholders in Transit Service Group (TSG) and Sister Companies to drive strategic life-cycle service solution and aftermarket opportunities, guarantee flawless execution from tendering to delivery. You will also manage local internal and external sales logistic resources to support import processes and ensure adherence to regulatory requirements.

You will play a critical role in driving Wabtec’s growth in Korea by developing and executing strategic sales initiatives that strengthen our market presence and deepen customer partnerships.  Your efforts will not only achieve revenue and order intake targets but also ensure the seamless coordination between headquarters and local operations through accurate forecasting, clear communication, and effective problem-solving.

 

By developing customer strategies, leading commercial pursuits, and delivering exceptional customer value, you will directly contribute to profitable business growth while positioning Wabtec as a market leader in rail solutions.


What will your typical day look like?

  • Design and implement strategic business plans in alignment with Transit Service Group requirements to strengthen Wabtec’s position in Korea;

  • Develop marketing, sales and strategic business plans and be responsible for delivering order and revenue commitments;

  • Achieve growth targets through effective sales management, business development activities and strategic customer engagement;

  • Build, maintain and expand strong customer relationships, developing influential partnerships at all levels of the customer organization;

  • Lead bidding activities, commercial proposal development and local tender participation;

  • Act as the primary interface between local customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring effective communication, alignment and execution of business objectives;

  • Lead and support cross-functional teams to ensure successful implementation of customer strategies, on-time delivery and high levels of customer satisfaction;

  • Drive customer satisfaction initiatives and proactively resolve issues to strengthen long-term business relationships;

  • Engage with oversea stakeholders to support strategic opportunities and business development initiatives;

  • Provide accurate sales performance, order intake and forecast reporting, identifying gaps and implementing corrective actions where required;

  • Manage and control the entire sales-to-delivery cycle to achieve business objectives;

  • Support customs clearance processes for imported materials in partnership with designated agencies;

  • Commitment to Quality, Safety and Environmental requirements;

Qualifications

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field;

  • Minimum 15+ years experience in Commercial Leadership Role, with at least 5 years in senior management role;

  • Proven business and sales leadership skills with a successful growth track record and margin retention;

  • Experience in railway, building and construction, engineering or automotive industry is preferred;

  • Experience in management, sales, business development and/or P&L responsibility;

  • Strategic and analytical mindset with strong business acumen, result oriented and strong influencing skills;

  • Sound communication and interpersonal skills, able to communicate proficiency in both Korean and English;

  • Knowledge of rail industry products, services and market dynamics is advantageous;

  • Being familiar working in an international company in a similar sector, ideally in a matrix organization;

  • Familiarity with logistics and customs processes is advantageous;

  • Occasional travel will be required
