Job Description
Who will you be working with?
You will partner with cross-functional teams across manufacturing, information technology (IT), quality, engineering, and operations to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production through the integration of shop floor devices pursuant to Wabtec’s Industry 4.0 (I4.0) objectives. This role collaborates closely with plant leadership, frontline teams, and IT to ensure manufacturing processes meet customer and business requirements while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Operational Excellence Industry 4.0 team, you will lead Operational Technologies (OT) system deployments, support Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), industrial networking, IIoT technologies, and machine connectivity solutions while ensuring cybersecurity, reliability, and operational excellence. You will play a critical leadership role in ensuring the safe delivery of quality products on time by driving I4.0 transformation, improving process reliability, and implementing innovative technologies. This role supports multiple sites.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Automation, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, automation, controls, OT, or Industry 4.0 environments.
- Experience with manufacturing systems integration and industrial automation technologies.
- Strong understanding of OT network architecture and industrial communication protocols.
- Experience supporting MES, SCADA, HMI, and historian systems.
- Knowledge of cloud and edge computing architectures within manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated project management and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
- Effective English language verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience driving process and quality improvements.
- Strong root cause analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to travel within Asia to support Wabtec manufacturing sites. Travel up to 50%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with, and ability to troubleshoot LAN connectivity from shop floor I4.0 devices to a cloud server.
- Familiarity with Atlas Copco Open Protocol communication and digitally controlled torque tightening.
- Experience with wireless communication common to a manufacturing environment: 802.11, 802.15.1, 802.15.4
- Experience connecting shop floor devices to a network: Programable Logic Controllers (Allen Bradley, Siemens, GE, etc.), Torque Controllers (Atlas Copco, Cleco, Desoutter, etc.), Computer Numerical Controls (Fanuc, Siemens, Heidenhain, etc.)
- Experience with Kepware KepServerEX software.
- Experience with GE Vernova CIMPLICITY HMI/SCADA software.
- Experience integrating shop floor devices with a manufacturing execution system (MES).
What will your typical day look like? Responsibilities
- Integrate shop floor devices with the Wabtec MES and other Wabtec IT systems across multiple sites.
- Enable real-time manufacturing data collection and visualization.
- Maximize communication/functionality uptime of integrated shop floor devices across multiple sites.
- Work collaboratively and cross functionally with IT counterparts to accomplish shared goals.
- Support PLC, SCADA, HMI, and industrial software upgrades.
- Assist with system validation, testing, and commissioning activities.
- Champion a customer-focused culture across the manufacturing organization.
- Support process development that improves safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance.
- Support specification development for I4.0 connectivity requirements for devices and equipment purchased by Wabtec.
- Support predictive maintenance, machine monitoring, and condition-based monitoring initiatives.
- Partner with data analysts and engineering teams to leverage operational data for process optimization.
- Provide training and technical support for manufacturing personnel and engineering teams.
