Who will you be working with?
Wabtec Global Freight Services provides offering to customer which include technology, people, and processes, designed to maximize reliability and availability of customers’ locomotives at optimal operating costs. These tailored solutions meet each customer’s operating needs for fleet strategy, and changing business trends, ensuring we help customers achieve their desired business outcomes. These offerings include tailored Maintenance Contracts, Overhauls, Asset Performance Management, Upgrades and modernisations.
Where is the position located?
Working in our Perth, CBD office. Close to public transport, cafes and restaurants.
What will your typical day look like?
Responsible support the end-to-end refurbishment and remanufacturing process and associated material management support of all company owned locomotive assembly Rotable-cores. You will bridge the gap between engineering, site service teams and material planning specialists to ensure 3rd Party remanufacture providers deliver Quality Assured rebuild of company owned assets, in-line with OEM specified standards. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who drives continuous improvement and cultivates a high-performance team culture.
- Daily issuing of material through ERP system, in line with vendor usage, identifying and rectifying any discrepancies that may exist
- Support Material and Operation Specialists with vendor management as required, including Work-in-Process (WIP) review, logistics management, vendor forecasts and material supply.
- Reviewing quotations from vendors regarding scope-of-works for overhaul goods, identifying any resolving any discrepancies
- Supporting company Material Specialists to ensure correct quantity and type of inventory is available at appropriate supplier bases to ensure efficient turn-around of goods overhaul
- Support Material Specialists with order placement and management of all WIP inventory, learning company advanced inventory ordering methods
- Support Material Specialists with inventory management, including tasks such as cycle counting, participating in inventory reviews whilst assisting to drive efficiencies within current practices
- Liaise with 3rd party logistics and inventory management teams as required, to ensure a high level of inventory accuracy is maintained at 3PL inventory locations
- Attend and contribute to all WIP (Work-in-Process) reviewing meeting with vendors, taking lead as and when required
- Continually monitor vendor turn-around-times to ensure remanufacture efficiency is maintained and areas of improvement identified and actioned
- Supporting Remanufacturing Leader with understanding and resolving any technical queries raised by vendors, working with company Engineering functions to ensure all equipment is remanufactured in line with OEM principles
- Support material planning functions through coordinating input on material shortages as advised through remanufacture partners
- Drive Data Hygiene of locally managed reports through periodic reconciliation of ERP generated reports, continually reviewing opportunities for efficiency and best practice
- Responsible for receival and dispatch of all inwards and outward overhaul goods, ensuring associated reports are up to date and accurately reflect inventory status
- Ensure all EHS improvements identified are appropriately recorded in company owned EHS platform, and support to drive closure of actions as required
- Working with transport vendors to identify and resolve any issues related to transport of goods
- Provide support for appropriate business functions throughout times of leave & absence
- Support training and mentoring of team members as required
- Support annual Stocktake duties as it relates to remanufacture of goods
- Contribute to the Continuous Improvement of internal work procedures and site safety metrics.
- Undertake any relevant training for role as required
What do we want to know about you?
- Appropriate experience Company ERP systems such as Oracle
- Experience in a Heavy Equipment Remanufacturing and Sourcing positions
- Experience working in a remote location desired
- Strong with MS Office
- Full flexibility supporting site hours, flexible start and finish times
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong attention to detail
- The ability to work autonomously under general direction
- Team oriented and ability to work collaboratively across teams
