Job Description

Who will you be working with?

You will be part of the Regional EHS team, working closely with Service site managers, operational leaders, employees, contractors, and corporate stakeholders across Kazakhstan. The team is committed to fostering a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) performance across multiple service locations. How will you make a difference?

As a member of the EHS organization, you will play a key role in ensuring the highest standards of occupational health, safety, environmental protection, fire safety, and industrial safety across Service sites in Kazakhstan. You will support operational teams by developing and implementing EHS programs, conducting audits and training, investigating incidents, and ensuring compliance with company standards and local regulations. Working closely with site leadership, you will help mitigate risks, improve operational sustainability, and promote a proactive safety culture throughout the organization.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Higher professional (technical) education in Environmental, Health & Safety or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of practical EHS experience in industrial, manufacturing, service, or operational environments
  • Strong knowledge of Kazakhstan occupational health, safety, environmental, fire safety, and industrial safety regulations
  • Good command of English and Kazakh
  • Experience conducting EHS audits, risk assessments, investigations, and training programs
  • Strong project management, organizational, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently and effectively across multiple locations and stakeholders
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills
  • Fire Safety and Electrical Safety certification (or willingness to obtain within 6 months) is an advantage
  • NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent EHS certifications are considered a strong plus
  • Willingness to travel regularly within Kazakhstan, including Maqat, Shalkar, Sekseul, Shu, Ayagoz, Astana, and Almaty 

What will your typical day look like?

  • Develop, review, and maintain EHS policies, procedures, standards, instructions, and guidance documents
  • Coordinate EHS activities and initiatives across Service sites and functional teams
  • Ensure compliance with company requirements and Kazakhstan legislation related to occupational safety, environmental protection, fire safety, and industrial safety
  • Conduct site inspections, compliance audits, workplace assessments, and risk evaluations
  • Investigate incidents, injuries, near misses, and unsafe conditions, identifying corrective and preventive actions
  • Support the implementation and continuous improvement of the Occupational Health and Safety Management System
  • Deliver EHS induction programs, training courses, briefings, and knowledge assessments for employees
  • Participate in workplace certification activities and assessments of equipment, facilities, and working conditions
  • Monitor the availability and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
  • Track implementation of corrective actions resulting from audits, inspections, investigations, and regulatory requirements
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual EHS reports for management and regulatory authorities
  • Support medical surveillance programs and compensation-related processes for employees working in hazardous conditions
  • Collaborate with operational leaders to identify opportunities for improving workplace safety and environmental performance
  • Provide guidance and coaching to employees and contractors on safe work practices
  • Complete assigned training and perform additional duties as directed by management
