Who will you be working with?  

In this role, you will be a member of the Control & Software Engineering (CaSE) group.

How will you make a difference?

You will be responsible for leading the Contagem site for Locomotive Controls and Software engineering activities. The Senior Manager will oversee hiring, guide the team in HiTL lab infrastructure maintenance and expansion, and collaborate closely with global engineering teams across CaSE. This role will actively support regional and global programs related to control software, interfacing with internal and external stakeholders such as systems engineering, production, field services, and customers. Additionally, the role will manage overall CaSE operations, including budget planning, funding, proposal support, and long-term strategic planning, contributing to both short-term execution and long-term business outcomes.

What do we want to know about you?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Computer Science, or Software Engineering.
  • Extensive experience in engineering roles, preferably in control systems and/or embedded software development.
  • Proven experience in leadership roles, with a strong track record of delivering results in dynamic, fast-paced environments.
  • Solid understanding of the locomotive product lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering operations and leading teams in a matrixed organization.
  • Strong background in embedded control software engineering.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Act as site leader for the Control & Software Engineering team at Contagem.
  • Oversee global CaSE operations, including budget allocation, spend tracking, gap identification, and planning activities (cards, shop work, P&E).
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and development of engineering talent, while identifying regional growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to support customer needs, program execution, requisitions, and reliability improvements.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to resolve conflicts, prioritize activities, and drive decision-making
  • Work effectively within a global matrixed organization.
  • Mentor engineers, provide performance insights, and reinforce Wabtec values across the team.
