Who will you be working with?

Our best-in-class Services team combines expertise in customer monitoring solutions, networking, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, and global rail operations. Wabtec has one of the largest installed bases of vision, acoustic, and thermal wayside monitoring systems across the global rail industry.

In this role, you will work closely with customers, Technical Support teams, Engineering, Product Management, and Operations teams to ensure the reliable performance of Wabtec's derailment protection and operational safety solutions. You will interact directly with customers during troubleshooting, maintenance, installation, and training activities, serving as a key technical representative in the field.

How will you make a difference?

As a member of the Services team, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and supporting Wabtec's wayside monitoring systems, including machine vision, acoustic, and thermal technologies deployed across rail networks.

You will play a critical role in ensuring system reliability and customer satisfaction by diagnosing and resolving technical issues, performing preventative maintenance and calibrations, and delivering technical training to customers. Working both independently and collaboratively with internal teams, you will support safe railway operations by ensuring Wabtec's equipment performs to the highest standards. Your technical expertise, attention to detail, and commitment to customer service will contribute directly to reducing operational disruptions and enhancing railway safety.

What do we want to know about you?

  • High School Diploma, Technical Diploma, or equivalent experience.
  • 1–2 years of experience in a field service, maintenance, electrical, mechanical, or technical support role.
  • Experience working directly with customers in a technical support or service environment.
  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 75% of the time.

What will your typical day look like?

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, software, and communication issues affecting system performance.
  • Utilize electronic test equipment to troubleshoot and verify system functionality.
  • Perform annual maintenance, calibration activities, warranty repairs, and preventative maintenance in accordance with established procedures.
  • Conduct routine inspections and identify potential issues before they impact operations.
  • Monitor system performance remotely using company software and diagnostic tools.
  • Create and maintain accurate service records, maintenance reports, and technical documentation.
  • Travel between customer locations to perform inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and technical support.
  • Conduct pre-job planning, risk assessments, and safety reviews before beginning field activities.

Working Conditions

  • Frequent travel within the assigned territory and to customer locations.
  • Work in active railway environments, including trackside operations.
  • Walking rail tracks and accessing remote locations.
  • Working outdoors in varying weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Working night shifts or extended hours as operational requirements dictate.
  • Lifting and carrying tools, equipment, and replacement components.
  • Working in confined spaces when required.
  • Performing hot work activities such as soldering and grinding where applicable.
  • Understanding and complying with electrical safety requirements, including lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Driving company or rental vehicles to customer locations.
  • Periodic office-based work involving reporting, documentation, virtual meetings, and administrative activities.
  • Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to all applicable railway and workplace safety regulations.
