How will you make a difference?

Located in our Dusseldorf office, the Project Engineer is responsible for overseeing projects from original concept through final implementation and post-project assessment, ensuring each project is completed on time, in budget, and within scope. This is achieved by working in concert with Sales, Design Engineering and the Manufacturing teams to managing the expectations of the customer in conjunction with understanding internal and external capabilities, resource availability, and execution of the projects. The Project Engineer must have the ability to manage multiple projects while meeting the expected gross margins and customer’s delivery schedule. The Project Manager must be able to identify constraints and offer constructive resolution to mitigate the risk of not achieving on time delivery.

What do we want to know about you?

Required Qualifications:

  • Degree in Engineering, preferred.
  • Must have a technical background.
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management or project engineering experience.
  • Experience in industrial sector project management or project engineering is preferred.
  • Able to communicate in German and English both verbally and in writing.

Desired Characteristics:

  • PMP or equivalent project management certification is desired.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail, multi-tasking skills, and the ability to achieve tight deadlines.
  • Analytically oriented with strong problem-solving capabilities.
  • Familiar with project finance and cost control management.
  • Knowledgeable in Microsoft Project, Microsoft Office – Outlook, Word, Excel (intermediate to expert level), PowerPoint.
  • Fundamental understanding of ERP systems and how they integrate operations with project integration.
  • Initiative to drive continuous improvement as it relates to project planning through project evaluation.
  • Energetic, curious, resourceful, highly creative and self-motivated.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced and sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage cross functionally.
  • Willingness to travel

 What will your typical day look like?

  • Define the scope of the project in collaboration with the commercial group, engineering team, and at times senior management.  
  • Participate in kickoff meetings, review the project scope and technical requirements in    cooperation with internal stakeholders and customers.
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules, engineering documentation, progress reports, and monitor project costs, delivery schedules, and technical milestones to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Coordinate engineering activities with Sales, Manufacturing and Purchasing to ensure successful   project execution.
  • Manage project changes, customer revisions, and updates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Document project activities, adjusting as necessary, to ensure successful project completion.
  • Monitor all budgeted project expenditures, cash flow projections and report actual cash flow and variance to Senior Management on a regular basis.
  • Coordinate price changes and extended delivery dates when customers change the scope of the    project.
  • Design custom combustion systems and related industrial equipment.
  • Develop mechanical designs and layouts based on customer specifications, process requirements, and project objectives.
  • Perform burner sizing and combustion calculations according to project and customer requirements.
  • Size and select control devices, flow measurement equipment, and related combustion components.
  • Create and review engineering drawings, models, bills of material (BOMs), and manufacturing documentation.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and customer requirements.
  • Identify technical risks and develop practical solutions to mitigate project challenges.
  • Provide engineering support during manufacturing, assembly, testing, installation, and startup activities.
  • Work closely with Drafting to ensure accurate and efficient creation of manufacturing drawings.
  • Review and verify burner systems, technical drawings, and engineering documentation for   functionality, technical accuracy, and compliance with applicable standards and customer   requirements.
  • Support troubleshooting activities and provide technical solutions during project execution and    commissioning phase.
  • Participate in project close-out meetings, document lessons learned, and support continuous    improvement activities.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
