Job Description

Who will you be working with?

With the Field Service Team, you will work collaboratively with the PM, the KAM, and the Resident Engineer (if present) to provide the required field support to advance the reliability of all Wabtec transit products present on your assigned territory.

 

How will you make a difference?

As the Regional Field Service Manager, you will oversee service operations across the West Coast region. Based in San Francisco, this role is responsible for leading a team of field service technicians, driving operational excellence, and ensuring strong performance in customer service, operational efficiency, and workplace safety.

     

    What will your typical day look like?

    • Leadership & Team Management
    • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Field Service Technicians across the West Coast region
    • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and safe work practices
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations and support employee development
    • Support recruitment, onboarding, and retention efforts

     

    • Operations & Service Delivery
    • Oversee daily field service operations to ensure efficient and timely service execution
    • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as response time, first-time fix rate, customer satisfaction, and safety performance
    • Implement process improvements to optimize service delivery and operational consistency
    • Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, and safety standards

     

    • Safety & Compliance
    • Reinforce safe work practices and ensure compliance with company and regulatory safety requirements
    • Support incident investigations and follow-up actions as needed
    • Partner with safety and operations teams to promote continuous improvement and awareness
    • Conduct periodic field visits, audits, and safety discussions with team members

     

    • Customer Experience
    • Serve as a primary escalation point for customer issues and service concerns
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders
    • Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality service

     

    • Financial & Business Management
    • Manage regional service budgets, including labor, travel, and operational expenses
    • Support revenue growth through service performance and operational efficiencies
    • Utilize data and metrics to guide decision-making and forecasting

     

    • Collaboration & Communication
    • Partner with cross-functional teams including Sales, Operations, Engineering, and Safety
    • Provide regular updates on regional performance and initiatives
    • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts across the organization

     

    You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

     

    Physical Demands

    Ability to travel by air, train or car across U.S. and Canadian time zones and work effectively. 

    This role is based in San Francisco, CA, with frequent travel across the West Coast region (Up to 50% travel). The position includes regular interaction with field teams and active engagement in operational environments.

     

    Work Environment

    Field services environment, including rail yards and other outdoor areas. May involve exposure to cold and hot temperatures, humidity, dust, vapors, fumes, vibration and other loud noises from the plant and customer locations in the field. Travel a majority of working hours. The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

    The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands, and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is also eligible for a performance bonus.     Qualifications

    What do we want to know about you?

    • Required

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
    • 5+ years of experience in field service, operations, or technical service management
    • Proven leadership experience managing field-based or distributed teams
    • Solid understanding of workplace safety practices and regulatory compliance
    • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
    • Ability to promote accountability and developing t
    • Ability to travel frequently throughout the West Coast region (Up to 50% travel)
    • Preferred

    • Relevant safety training or certifications
    • Experience in technical service environments (transit, industrial, or equipment-focused industries)
    • Familiarity with service management and reporting systems
    • Demonstrated success improving operational and service performance

The salary rate for this role is currently $79100-112800 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
