Who will you be working with?

Wabtec’s Digital Intelligence Signaling & Systems team is recognized as an industry leader in the successful delivery of complex integrated system projects, involving signaling, train control, communications, and back-office solutions with a strong focus on project execution, project management, schedule adherence and customer satisfaction.

How will you make a difference?

As a Crewman you will Assist in the installation, repair and maintenance of various railroad signals and grade crossing warning devices.

 

What do we want to know about you?

You must have:

  •  Class A CDL is required. You must obtain a Class A CDL license within 90 days after your employment probationary period (90 days from you start date).
  • Must have a current driver's license.
  • Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Previous railroad experience is preferred.
  • Applicants must be able to perform heavy physical labor.
  • Experience in the operations of a backhoe and trencher. Ability to dig a trench using a backhoe with limited training and/or supervision.
  • Applicants must have the ability to communicate and work well both independently and with others.
  • Previous construction experience and/or experience operating construction equipment.
  • Must have a dependable form of transportation.

 

What will your typical day look like?

In this role you will work on a team to complete railroad signaling projects for our customers. This will include but are not limited to installing, and dismantling of signal structures and components such as foundations, equipment housing, cable and switches; digs, fills holes and trenches; climbs poles and ladders; operates non-power hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, files, wrenches, pliers, shovels, picks, cutters and sledgehammers; operates manual machinery and heavy equipment; and unreels and installs wires and cables overhead and underground.

 

What about the physical demands of the job?

Outside environment. You will be exposed to all weather conditions. Outside work is required regardless of weather conditions. You must wear personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, safety boots, hard hats, and hearing protection where the company requires. You may occasionally at heights of 20 feet or more above the ground. You will be working in many rural remote geographic areas.  On the road or traveling, as required. You will be away from home for several days at a time, with travel constituting in 95-100% of the position.

 

You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.

 

While this position is remote, it may include occasional work at a Wabtec office/site or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager.

 

The hourly rate for this role is $21 - $26.
