Job Description
LaGrange County REMC is looking for candidates who are not only calm under pressure but also prioritize safety and efficiency in their daily work activities.
As a Tree Trimmer/Groundman, your duties include but are not limited to:
- Cutting away and clearing branches from around power lines, using climbing equipment or bucket trucks, as well as chainsaws, hooks, handsaws, shears, and clippers.
- Drag limbs and brush, and feed into chipper or load onto trucks or trailers for disposal.
- Operating heavy machinery, such as chippers, power saws, trucks, sprayers and other equipment and tools.
- Applying herbicides and similar chemicals for selective vegetation control.
- Climbing trees, using climbing hooks and belts, or climbing ladders to gain access to work areas.
- Reporting for assigned on-call periods and overtime, as required.
- Working in an environment with exposure to noise, dust and dirt; extreme temperatures and inclement weather; and hazardous materials and machinery.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Reside within twenty (20) minutes of Lagrange County REMC headquarters.
Preferred candidates will have the following:
- Minimum of 1-2 years in tree trimming, vegetation management or related experience is required.
- Valid Class A commercial driver’s license (CDL).
- Indiana Category 6 Commercial Applicator Certification.
