Since 1936, Fulton County REMC has been serving more than 5,950 members in portions of Fulton, Cass, Kosciusko, Marshall, Miami, Pulaski, and Starke counties.   Fulton County REMC employs 20 dedicated team members and has annual revenues of $13 million.  Fulton County REMC is a member of Wabash Valley Power Alliance (WVPA) and Indiana Electric Cooperatives (IEC).

Job Description

We are looking for an Accountant to support special projects, financial reporting, and general accounting tasks. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, proactive, and enjoys working on diverse financial initiatives.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performs accounts payable duties including posting and balancing subsidiary ledger, reviewing and coding invoices for payment, and processes approved payments.

  • Acts as purchasing agent, procuring materials.  Reviews purchase requests for compliance and payments

  • Assembles, tabulates, and processes cost data for construction and retirement work orders.  Posts labor, materials, overhead, and other cost accumulating totals on work orders. Prepares inventory for work orders and balances work order summaries.

  • Maintains daily deposit records and updates cash balance reports.  Performs bank reconciliations.

  • Maintains inventory records, capital equipment lists and performs other asset management duties.

Qualifications

  • Accounting and Computer technology skills:  Able to perform advanced tasks in financial software as well as the MS Office Suite
  • Strong analytical and financial skills:  Able to gather relevant data using appropriate methodologies and analyze that data in such a manner that valid conclusions and insinuations can be drawn that assist in making important business decisions; uses financial analysis to evaluate and identify desired financial directions.
  • Effective communication skills:  Able to clearly present information through the spoken or written word; reads and interprets complex information; conveys information effectively; listens well.
  • Negotiation and persuasion ability:  Able to convince others in both positive and negative circumstances; uses tact when expressing ideas or opinions; presents new ideas to authority figures; responds to objections successfully.

Education/Experience Requirements

  • Accounting and clerical experience required.
  • Previous cooperative or utility experience is preferred.
