Job Description
The Network Engineer III will work day-to-day with the core service provider network, including 100G and 400G core network circuits, DWDM Equipment, MPLS, private and public eBGP peering, and maintaining public IPv4 addressing.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist with researching, testing, and deploying new technologies on NineStar Connect's core service provider infrastructure with a strong focus on future network planning and design of network architecture.
- Installing, configuring, and analyzing our multiple high-speed rings, DWDM equipment, and special circuits.
- Provide network training and support to NineStar employees.
- Maintain public service provider applications, servers, and services. (DNS, DHCP, Network Monitoring, Tools, etc.)
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Company products, services, policies, and procedures
- General office practices
- Network protocols and equipment
- Carrier network maintenance and troubleshooting techniques
- Internet services and protocols
- Network and specific Cisco protocols and technologies:
- OSPF, BGP, MPLS, Complex Routing
- EVPN, Segment Routing, other service provider switching / routing technologies
- Cisco IOS, IOS-XE, and IOS-XR
- Administering the following Linux based network services:
- DHCP, DNS, TACACS, and more
- Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic tasks
- Security protocols and best practice
Skill In:
- BGP and OSPF Routing Protocols
- MPLS
- Installing and troubleshooting special circuits
- Creating and implementing complex network designs and upgrades
- Oral and written communication
- Problem solving
Ability to:
- Communicate with coworkers, customers, and vendors in a professional manner

Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field plus a minimum of 8 years of related experience or Associate’s Degree in computer science or related field plus 10 years of related experience.
- Desired Certifications include:
- CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional) or higher.
- CCNP Service Provider Concentration is ideal.
