Job Description
POSITION PURPOSE
To evaluate and design construction and maintenance of electric distribution systems. Prepare detailed drawings, permits, easements, material estimates, and all other documents required for project completion. Communicate effectively with all major stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

- Maintain current knowledge and understanding of RUS, NESC, and other applicable standards and regulations.
- Perform fieldwork required for staking and marking system lines and rights-of-way, audits, and/or inspections.
- Coordinate fieldwork on projects; providing engineering direction and synchronization with outside agencies, internal departments and/or customer representatives.
- Prepare service orders, work orders, staking sheets, construction drawings, and similar type work consistent with RUS and Cooperative standard guidelines, practices, and policies and in accordance with the National Electric Safety Code.
- Perform service cost estimates, load and voltage drop calculations, and transformer recommendations.
- Obtain and secure right-of-way easements, permits and other required documents.
- Coordinate and communicate with members to ensure proper service installation; Ensure member’s expectations are met.
- Patrol lines when needed.
- Determine new joint use requirements.
- Comply with all safety standards and practices.
- Attain and maintain CPR & First Aid certification.
- Perform other duties and activities as assigned.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
- A minimum of a two-year degree in engineering or a related technical field is desired.
- The right combination of education, field experience and/or technical skills may be substituted for education requirements.
- Familiarity with the NEC, NESC, and OSHA.
- Valid Indiana Driver’s License is required.

- Minimal exposure to fumes, odors, gases, chemicals, poor ventilation, dust, and dirt. Hazards include electrical shock, falling equipment, animals, bees/wasps, poison ivy, etc.
