Hendricks Power Cooperative is now accepting applications for the position of Operations Engineering Technician in Avon, Indiana. Hendricks Power is a rural electric cooperative which focuses on distributing electric service to more than 35,000 members within four counties. 

Job Description

Major responsibilities will include working to maintain and improve total system reliability.  This position will lead the collaborative efforts of engaging Operations, Engineering, and Information Technology (IT) to continually improve procedures and processes. This includes designing and maintaining continual system analytics for electric and fiber optic network, creating schedules for preventative maintenance, and maintaining proper documentation for all distribution equipment, analyzing work process improvements for system maintenance and continually make improvements to increase work efficiency, owning the distribution automation system(s), and troubleshooting member power quality issues. This position will also manage projects as directed from Operations and/or Engineering.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Associate degree in electrical engineering technology or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in electric utility preferred.
  • 2+ years knowledge of distribution line construction and maintenance preferred.
  • 2+ years’ positive customer service experience.
  • Strong exposure to various computer software.
  • Basic electrical knowledge.

  • Must have the ability to work closely with other departments and help determine acceptable solutions.
  • Must have the physical ability to work inside an office environment and sit at a desk to handle various computer work and also work outdoors in all weather conditions and walking on various terrains.
  • Must have the ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, members, customers, and others.
  • Must be able to work effectively on a daily basis with a variety of individuals.
  • Must be able to be self-motivated, work independently and have leadership abilities.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English with strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
  • Must be organized, detailed oriented and able to meet project deadlines.
