Job Description
The Line Superintendent will work closely with the Director of Electric Operations to supervise and oversee Line Department while working cooperatively with Engineering and Operations employees to make the department as safe and efficient as possible.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervises activities of the line maintenance and construction section including inspection, construction, maintenance, inventory control, and job training and safety to facilitate attainment of departmental goals.
- Plans daily work including setting up contractors, contacting members, and working with Staking to ensure steady workflow.
- Maintains the Electric Feet, scheduling routine or emergency service and monitoring daily inspection forms to make sure we are within DOT standards.
- Assists with planning, development, implantation, and evaluation of line section programs and controls.
Qualifications
Knowledge of:
- Distribution system design, construction, operations, maintenance standards, and safe working practices.
- A working knowledge of all applicable codes, regulations, and standards both national and local.
Ability to:
- Maintain a valid Indiana Commercials Driver's License and operate automotive and power driven equipment.
- Pay close attention to detail.
- Communicate in a courteous and professional manner both verbally and in writing with employees, vendors, members, regulatory agencies, and organizations.
- Operate various software equipment such as iVue, Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, copier, telephone, and Microsoft Teams.
Skill in:
- Supervising all facets of the Line Section function.
- Facilitating meetings and discussions.
- Handling multiple tasks at once.
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
- Completion of a recognized apprentice program of at least 4 years plus 2 years first line supervisory experience and 7 years of utility maintenance and construction preferred.
- Must maintain a valid CDL.
