Hendricks Power Cooperative is now accepting applications for the position of Electrical Distribution System Engineer in Avon, Indiana. Hendricks Power is a rural electric cooperative which focuses on distributing electric services to more than 35,000 members within four counties. 

Job Description

Major responsibilities include the electrical design of the distribution systems overhead and underground lines and customer connections, system planning, protective device coordination, substation design and planning, acquiring easements and permits, review distributed generation interconnection requests, develop specifications and construction standards, develop data analytics tools, and assist in the evaluation and implementation of emerging technologies.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering required.
  • Will be expected to obtain Professional Engineer’s License.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn RUS engineering and construction standards and the National Electrical Safety Code.
  • Strong exposure to various computer software.
  • Knowledge of or ability to learn the following software: AutoCAD, WindMil, LightTable, Yukon Feeder Automation, SCADA, and NISC Suite.

Personal & Position Qualifications

  • Must have the physical ability to work inside an office environment and sit at a desk to handle various computer work. 
  • Must be physically able to work outdoors in all weather conditions and walk on various terrain.
  • Must have a high level of math skills and be able to perform financial and engineering calculations.
  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively with management, employees, members, customers, and others.
  • Must be able to work effectively on a daily basis with a variety of individuals.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work independently and have leadership abilities.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English with strong interpersonal and oral and written communication skills.
  • Must have a high level of grammar, spelling, and proofreading capabilities.
  • Must be organized, detailed oriented and able to meet project deadlines.
