Job Description

Directly supervises the network engineering team and serves as a point of escalation for network issues while providing direction and management for all LAN/WAN hardware, software, and network infrastructure on a day-to-day basis. The Network Engineering Supervisor is responsible for the research and testing of new technologies with regard to the NSC infrastructure and training employees on network, video, and customer support functions for the entire Network Operations group, and functions as the main point of interface for internal/external network concerns or questions.  

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilites: 

  • Directly supervise the network enginners by coordinating installations and maintenance of WAN hardware, software, and networks involved in voice, data, and video communications for external customers. Maintenance includes but is not limited to servers, switches, routers, cables, backups, and remote connections. 
  • Provides direction and troubleshooting assistance with regard to NSC network infrastructure. 
  • Assists with future planning and buildout with regards to external network growth. 
  • Acts as the network engineering liaison with other departments in the company. 
  • Assists business sales with customer requests for network design and implementation strategies. 
  • Performs other duties as needed.

Qualifications

Knowledge of: 

  • Data transport via TCP/IP, including routers and switches. 
  • Advanced routing/switching protocols. 
  • Linux Operations System. 
  • Common DSLAM providers and technologies. 
  • Multicast routing. 
  • Servers, workstations, and other relevant equipment. 

Skill in: 

  • Maintaining relationships between IT and business operations. 
  • Training and assisting others. 
  • Forecasting changes in network infrastructure. 
  • Researching and implementing new technologies. 
  • Oral and written communication. 
  • Problem solving and multitasking. 

Ability to: 

  • Shift gears comfortably while maintaining a tolerence for ambiguity.  
  • Diagnose and solve complex network issues. 
  • Work independently and make decisions. 
  • Pay close attention to detail. 

Education and Experience: 

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or related field along with 3-5 years of networking and management experience required.
  • Possess Cisco CCNA or higher or has the ability to attain within 6 months of hire date.
