Job Description

Assist the Electric Operations and Engineering department of the Cooperative for the continuity of line service, maintenance, and construction functions to meet the Cooperative’s objectives. This is a Bargaining Unit Position. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist the Purchasing Coordinator with Warehouse duties and acts as a backup when they are out of office. 
  • Maintain a list of qualified vendors to ensure the best quality of materials and supplies at the most competitive price meet department and Cooperative specifications and delivery schedules.  

Qualifications

Skill in: 

  • Maintain an inventory of adequate stock of meter parts and supplies. 
  • Operating various vehicles such as a Vac Truck, Skid Steer, and Trailers.
  • Recording necessary information on time sheets, work orders and any other source documents.
  • Acquiring knowledge of system geography within a reasonable time span.

Ability to: 

  • Report to and consult with the Director of Electric Operations on work assignments and instruction and/or guidance of other Electrical Operation and Engineering Personnel. 
  • Attend all safety and specialized training as required.

Knowledge of: 

  • Recording necessary information on time sheets, work orders, and any other source documents. 
  • Basic reading, writing and mathematical skills necessary to perform the position.

Education and Experience: 

  • Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a valid Indiana Class A with Tanker Endorsement Commercial Driver’s License or be able to obtain within six month of employment and be able to operate all Cooperative vehicles. 

Working Conditions: 

  • Must be willing to work under all weather conditions. 
  • Must be willing to travel away from home to technical schools. 
  • Must be willing to work outside of regular business hours as required. 

Residency Requirements: 

  • Operating policy states that all trades and crafts employees who are subject to emergency "call-in" duty must reside within a 15 mile radius (bona fide residence) of the Central Indiana Power service territory.
