Job Description

The Accounting Internship is an opportunity to learn utility and cooperative accounting while performing necessary functions to support the accounting records activity for both the electric and broadband operations.

As our accounting intern your duties include but are not limited to:

  • Processing accounts payable for both electric and broadband operations including the reconciliation of purchases received with supplier's invoices and LaGrange County REMC purchase orders to accurately and efficiently make payment to vendors.
  • Reconciling subsidiary records monthly to individual ledger accounts assigned to assure correct reporting of current operating results and financial condition.
  • Reviewing and updating vendor contracts and insurance certificates.
  • Coordinating with vendors to move payments from check to ACH.
  • Preparing invoices for damage repair to LaGrange County REMC’s property or other non-utility transactions.
  • Performing data entry of accounting journal entries for bank and other account reconciliation, and other data entry as assigned.
  • Filing records of vendor invoices and payments, monthly journal entries and vendor contracts.

Qualifications

  • University path towards a degree in accounting, business, or related field.
  • Prior experience not required
