Job Description

The purpose of this position is to perform administration duties for Wabash Valley Power Alliance's Operational Technology system including the Energy Management System (EMS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and supporting systems (e.g. PI). 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer the Energy Management System (EMS) including assisting in upgrades, routine maintenance, patching activities, system administration, system security, back up testing, making corrections, monitoring load/generation data for accuracy and reliability, managing and updating databases, and creating new functionality utilizing OSI Monarch SCADA system software.
  • Function as the primary WVPA SCADA/Help Desk support person and provide SCADA\EMS system end user assistance for Wabash Valley Power field engineers, business units and membership and assist with troubleshooting PI and SCADA system events as necessary including off-hour support.
  • Design SCADA HMI (human-machine interface) to improve user usability including one-line screens, historian reporting, display updating, and troubleshooting stale or inaccurate data from Wabash Valley Power and third party via ICCP etc.
  • Responsible for Bi-directional SCADA-PI data flow for Wabash Valley and Member owned equipment and PI Data Archive activities.  This includes Interface setup, tag in PI, and AF elements and addition of new data relating to new SCADA implementations.
  • Responsible for the creation, administration, upgrade, testing and documentation of PI system. Accountable for visualization activities; Including, PI Vision server setup and administration, migration of SCADA data into client tools for end-users (utilizing thin client displays over web browser for tablets, smartphones, etc.), creation of displays, and all system documentation.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or Associates Degree with relevant experience in technical field (preferably, computer or electric/electronics preferred) required.
  • Two or more years of prior experience with ICS\SCADA system or real time historian in system integration, system design, process improvements, upgrades, and installations is required.
  • Ability to collaboratively resolve problems and communicate effectively across organizational structure.
  • Ability to comprehend technical documentation (e.g., substation one-line diagrams, substation construction prints, etc.).
  • Has familiarity with Generating Transmission, Substation, and Distribution assets.
  • Computer program application skills are required (e.g., Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project, etc.).
  • Has familiarity with distribution automation
  • Has familiarity with computer virtualization technologies
  • Ability to meet Company driving standards, including a valid driver’s license.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Electric cooperative experience preferred.
  • Preferred certifications in one or more technical domains: (e.g. CompTIA, MTA/MCSA, GIAC, PMP, etc)
  • Familiarity with electrical network modeling, real-time contingency analysis, system power flow, system state estimation
  • Familiarity with scripting languages, SQL, and C is a plus
