Steuben County REMC, a member-owned electric and broadband cooperative located in Northeast Indiana, is seeking a dynamic and service-driven professional Director of Member Services to lead member engagement efforts and drive our mission of reliable, responsive, and community-focused service. This multifaceted role is ideal for a strategic thinker with a passion for energy innovation, member engagement, and commercial & industrial (C&I) account development.
Job Description
About the Role:
As the Director of Member Services, you will oversee all facets of member relations, including billing support and energy programs, assisting member service operations, and marketing communications. This leadership position is responsible for ensuring our members receive top-tier service while promoting programs that enhance energy efficiency, safety, and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and assist the Member Services team to deliver exceptional service and support to our members.
- Serve as the cooperative’s Energy Advisor, providing expert guidance on energy efficiency, renewable options, and rebate programs for residential and commercial members
- Develop and implement energy efficiency programs, rebates, and load management initiatives
- Manage and grow relationships with key commercial and industrial accounts as the main liaison, supporting energy management initiatives and ensuring service reliability that supports economic growth
- Oversee commercial billing
- Collaborate with internal departments to align strategic goals and enhance the cooperative’s value to its members.
- Respond to negative member feedback, inquiries, and concerns with care and professionalism
- Oversee community outreach by representing REMC at community events, meetings, and educational forums
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Energy Management, Engineering, Business, Communications, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- BPI or equivalent certification
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a cooperative or utility setting, including but not limited to utility account management or energy advising
- Familiarity with GIS, SCADA, AMI, and billing software (NISC preferred).
