Job Description

KEY ROLE:

The successful applicant will join our growing and exciting Maritime team as a Port & Coastal Engineer, with a focus on technical excellence, innovative thinking and teamwork.  In the process we become global thought leaders in our various fields.  We positively influence the industry and people around us, both locally and on exciting international projects, leveraging the global WSP platform and reach. 

 

Graduate - Port & Coastal Engineer role will include:

•                 Conducting analysis/engineering/design tasks as a team member on coastal and port engineering projects, initially under the guidance of experienced coastal engineers

•                 Participation in project meetings

•                 Reporting of methods and results

•                 Rapid growth, ultimately leading projects and/or parts of projects.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The successful applicant will take part in Coastal Engineering aspects such as:

  • Input and participation in coastal process data analyses and modelling (e.g. waves, sediment transport, beach morphology)
  • Pre-feasibility to detailed port & coastal engineering feasibility studies, including designs and reporting.
  • Concept up to detailed port & coastal engineering designs, drawing generation, technical specifications, capital and operational cost estimations.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • BSc Eng / BEng Civil Engineering degree.
  • Post-graduate masters (MEng / MScEng) qualification in Port & Coastal Engineering will be highly advantageous.
  • Registration as Engineer in Training with ECSA will be an advantage.
  • 0 – 2 years’ post graduate design experience in Ports & Coastal engineering.
  • Concept to detail design and construction drawing production on Port & Coastal projects.
  • Experience in coastal engineering and other software tools:
        1. AutoCAD Civil3D
        2. UNIBEST-CL+, XBEACH or similar (shoreline models, storm erosion models) will be an advantage
        3. Modelling software such as SWAN, Deltares Delft-3D and DHI Mike will be an advantage
  • Competence in digital engineering and computer proficiency using MATLAB / PYTHON/VBA to analyse environmental data and/or facilitate designs would be an advantage. 
  • Experience in Marine Intakes & Outfall design will be an advantage.
  • Knowledge on coastal design guidelines and standards, e.g. Rock Manual, CEM, DNV, BS codes, EuroTop.
