At BaxterStorey, we believe great hospitality comes from people who care about their customers, their colleagues and the work they do.
We’re looking for a friendly, reliable and organised General Assistant to join our catering team in Inchinnan. This is a varied, hands-on position suited to someone who enjoys customer service, is comfortable with cash handling and basic administration, and is happy to get involved in the daily running of a busy kitchen.
You’ll work closely with the Chef Manager and the wider team, helping us deliver a welcoming service and maintain high standards throughout the catering operation.
We offer an inclusive and supportive working environment, with training to help you settle into the role and opportunities to develop your skills. With weekday working hours, free meals on shift and a range of company benefits, you’ll have the support to do your job well and enjoy a good work-life balance.
If you take pride in your work and enjoy being part of a team, we’d love to hear from you.
Job Description
- Till and cash handling: Operating the till, processing payments accurately, completing daily cashing up and weekly banking in line with company procedures.
- Marketing: Updating the point-of-sale tablets with current menus, promotions and marketing content.
- Due diligence: Assisting with completing and uploading food safety and health and safety records, including temperature checks and cleaning records.
- Counter service: Setting up and replenishing the counter, serving food and drinks, and providing friendly customer service.
- Deliveries and stock: Checking deliveries, putting orders away promptly, rotating stock and keeping storage areas organised.
- Cleaning and kitchen support: Cleaning and tidying the kitchen, counter and dining areas, helping with washing up and supporting the team with daily kitchen duties.
The role needs someone who is comfortable with cash handling and basic administration, while also being willing to get involved with service, putting deliveries away and keeping the kitchen clean and organised.
Qualifications
- No formal qualifications are required. Training and support will be provided.
- Confident using a computer and tablets, including email, entering figures, uploading documents and updating marketing content.
- Good numeracy skills, with the ability to count money accurately, cash up the till and complete weekly banking records.
- Previous experience in cash handling, retail, catering or a similar role would be an advantage, but is not essential.
- Organised and reliable, with good attention to detail and the ability to follow company procedures.
- Friendly and approachable, with good communication skills and a commitment to customer service.
- Comfortable working as part of a team and independently once trained.
- Willing to take a hands-on approach to counter service, putting deliveries away, cleaning and general kitchen duties.
- An understanding of food hygiene and health and safety would be helpful, with training provided.
