Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Chef de Partie to join our dynamic culinary team in Cheltenham, United Kingdom. As a Chef de Partie, you will take responsibility for your designated section, supporting the senior kitchen team whilst developing your culinary expertise, maintaining high food quality standards, and contributing to a collaborative kitchen environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated culinary professional who is eager to develop their skills, thrives in a fast-paced setting, and is committed to delivering outstanding dining experiences.
- Prepare and cook dishes according to recipes and standards established by the Head Chef and senior kitchen team, ensuring strict adherence to food safety and hygiene procedures at all times.
- Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of your designated section, ensuring it is organised, clean, well-stocked, and ready for service.
- Maintain high quality standards for all dishes, consistently checking presentation, taste, portion control, and consistency before service.
- Work positively and effectively with all members of the kitchen team, supporting colleagues and contributing to a professional and collaborative working environment.
- Follow menu specifications and recipes accurately, while contributing ideas and suggestions to support menu development and continuous improvement.
- Assist with stock control within your section, ensuring ingredients are stored correctly, stock levels are monitored, and food waste is minimised.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen equipment and work areas, ensuring all equipment is used safely and any faults are reported promptly.
- Demonstrate resilience and composure whilst managing multiple priorities during busy service periods, maintaining high standards under pressure.
- Support the senior kitchen team with food preparation, plating, and service to ensure meals are delivered consistently, efficiently, and to the required standard.
- Ensure all food is prepared and handled in accordance with allergen, food safety, HACCP, and company procedures.
- Support the training and development of junior members of the kitchen team by sharing knowledge and demonstrating good working practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a professional kitchen environment, ideally in a Chef de Partie, Commis Chef, or similar culinary role.
- Good knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation, and a range of cuisines, with a willingness to continue developing culinary skills.
- Good understanding of food safety, hygiene, allergen management, and HACCP principles, with a current Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification or equivalent.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment whilst maintaining high standards of food quality and presentation.
- Strong attention to detail, with good organisational and time management skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a positive and collaborative approach to working as part of a team.
- Ability to take responsibility for a designated kitchen section and ensure it is prepared, organised, and maintained to the required standard.
- Awareness of stock control, portion control, food costs, and minimising food waste.
- Ability to follow recipes, specifications, and instructions accurately and consistently.
- Good problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm and professional during busy service periods.
- Willingness to contribute ideas and support menu development and continuous improvement within the kitchen.
- Good knowledge of kitchen equipment and the ability to use equipment safely and correctly.
- Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and during school events where required.
- Commitment to maintaining high standards of professionalism, food quality, hygiene, and customer service.
