The Stores person will support the centre manager in the provision of food, materials and equipment and all relevant supports for all classroom activities e.g ( training kitchen, restaurant and bar).
These activities follow the university calendar and are not functional during academic holidays.
As this is a Culinary training environment the standards are to be maintained to an impeccable level.
The role will also involve preparing for and supporting all student work in the facility, supporting staff activity and teaching activity related to the operation, and so will require a broad knowledge of culinary/food operations.
The role will involve ensuring that all relevant quality standards are met and in particular HACCP and food safety regulations.
Further, ensure that all Health & Safety standards and requirements are maintained as appropriate.
Job Description
Duties & Responsibillities
- The preparation of materials and equipment for practical classes, demonstrations, assessments, practical examinations.
- Accepting delivery of materials and equipment, their transportation and storing as required, and the replenishing of stocks and consumables as appropriate.
- The maintenance of workshops, kitchens and associated areas in a clean, tidy and secure manner and informing the relevant line manager if it appears that equipment needs repair or replacement.
- Procurement of equipment
- Check and record maintenance of equipment, calibration etc.
- Re-storing of all equipment and unused materials to designated areas, reporting all items mislaid or damaged, or in need of replacement.
- Stock control of equipment
- Processing and sale of class goods and any clerical and archival work associated with this, were applicable.
- Assist with the preparation of a Workshop or Laboratory for a class or demonstration.
- Ensure that stores, kitchens and associated areas are kept clean, tidy and in excellent order.
Qualifications
Essential Competences and Experience:
- Food handling experience
- HACCP and Food Safety knowledge
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
- Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.
- Evidence of personal development through further skills development
- IT Skills
