Location: The Apron Cafe, Gamston Airport, Ollerton Road, Retford
Hours - 40 hours per week, 5/7 including rotated weekends. 8.30 am to 16.30 pm
Rate Of pay £ 16.06 per hour

Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and decisive General Manager to lead our operations in Retford, United Kingdom. This is a permanent position where you will take full responsibility for the strategic direction, operational performance, and financial success of our food and beverage service. As General Manager, you will drive excellence across all aspects of the business, from service delivery and team management to customer satisfaction and profitability. You will be instrumental in fostering a culture of continuous improvement whilst maintaining the highest standards of operational integrity. • Lead and manage all operational aspects of the food and beverage service, ensuring consistent delivery of quality and service excellence
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve business objectives, revenue targets, and profitability goals • Manage P&L responsibilities, including budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and financial reporting • Recruit, induct, train, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a positive and motivational working environment
- Oversee staff appraisals, performance management, and career progression opportunities • Ensure full compliance with health and safety regulations, food safety standards, and all relevant legislation • Manage inventory, procurement, and supply chain operations to optimise efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and key partners • Monitor and analyse operational metrics, implementing continuous improvement initiatives • Represent the organisation at client meetings and industry events, demonstrating professionalism and vision • Manage customer feedback and complaints, ensuring swift resolution and service recovery • Oversee scheduling, time keeping, and resource allocation to maximise operational efficiency
Qualifications
**Required Skills and Experience:** • Proven general management experience, ideally within food service, catering, or hospitality operations • Demonstrated expertise in P&L management and financial acumen • Strong people management and team leadership capabilities • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Proficiency in operational planning and process improvement
- Knowledge of health and safety compliance and food safety regulations • Experience in inventory management and supply chain coordination • Proven ability to drive customer satisfaction and service excellence • Strategic thinking and business development acumen • Proficiency with hospitality management systems and relevant software
**Desirable Skills and Experience:** • Previous experience working with Baxterstorey or similar contract catering organisations • In-depth knowledge of food and beverage industry standards and best practices • Experience in budget forecasting and advanced cost control methodologies • Familiarity with staff recruitment and induction programmes • Track record of implementing successful operational improvements
