Job Description
We are seeking a General Catering Assistant to join our team in Scarborough, United Kingdom. This role is a maternity cover position, working Monday to Friday from 11:00 to 19:00 during term time. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our catering operations and ensuring high-quality food service.
- Assist in the preparation and serving of meals, snacks, and beverages
- Maintain a clean and hygienic kitchen environment, including washing dishes and utensils
- Operate kitchen equipment safely and efficiently
- Support the catering team in food storage and stock rotation
- Serve customers in a friendly and professional manner
- Adhere to all health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards
- Assist with setting up and clearing dining areas
- Contribute to the overall smooth running of the catering service
Qualifications
- Food hygiene certificate (required)
- Previous experience in catering or food service (preferred)
- Excellent food preparation and handling skills
- Proficiency in operating kitchen equipment
- Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations in a catering environment
- Effective time management and organisational skills
- Ability to work well in a team and under pressure
- Good customer service skills with a friendly and approachable demeanour
- Basic education with good numeracy and literacy skills
- Flexibility to work during term time and cover the specified hours (11:00-19:00, Monday-Friday)
