Up to £35,000 depending on experience

As the Deputy General Manager you will be on sites in one of our most established Private schools, supporting the senior operations team, talented chefs and target driven team to deliver flawless service and exceptional food and drinks.

The Deputy General Manager will support the GM, building strong relationships with their clients, understanding a brief and executing every detail with continuous quality and a human touch. You will also have the chance to develop into the next General Manager. 

co-educational private school for boarding and day pupils between the ages of 3 months and 18 years. It was founded in 1885, and is a member of the Headmasters' and Headmistresses' Conference with beautiful and natural surroundings. 

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • To brief the bar & waiting team on all aspects of the business and to oversee the running of the restaurant and bar in the absence of the General manager.
  • You will ensure efficient and cost effective management of the business with regards, staff, stock and equipment
  • To support the development of the operations waiting team, making sure that they adhere to standards set out
  • To ensure that all legislative and Government guidelines are adhered to, including (but not exclusively) The Food Safety Act, Health and Safety at Work Act, the COSHH regulations, GDPR etc. within the areas of responsibility. 
  • To train or provide training to the staff so as to ensure they operate in accordance with the department standards including any casual labour that may be required. To conduct training in line with the operations departments training calendar and the training matrix. Including conducting Training Tuesdays.  
  • Implementation of the staff induction and mandatory training within the first three months of employment and monitoring of staff performance during probation. 
  • To monitor on a daily basis the standards achieved in your department, to deliver exceptional customer service and levels of attention to detail and report any areas of concerns to the events manager.
  • To ensure the department/team are in compliance with cash handling and cashing up procedures and that any discrepancies are reported immediately to your line manager.

  • Have experience in a Deputy Manager role in restaurants or hospitality
  • Good understanding of report writing and financial management.

  • Able to demonstrate your analytical approach to problem solving
  • Have the ability to display a real passion for food and customer service
