Job Description

The Executive Director/Retail Innovation at WONGDOODY is responsible for leading and managing the agency’s retail practice first and foremost for our largest and most important client, an innovative leader in the mobile space that is constantly disrupting its industry.  You will partner directly with their head of Creative and Store Design. You will lead internal strategy, account and creative teams - while working in concert with our digital transformation teams - to shape the vision for all retail initiatives, both physical and digital, from fleet stores nationwide to pop-up retail and e-commerce to signature retail experiences in Times Square. Besides guiding the operation of this key account, you will also provide leadership to core functional areas of retail strategy and experience – Behavioral Insights, Journey Design, Interactive Environments, and Analysis & Reporting.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Behavioral Insights:

In this role, you will call upon your experience to uncover insights about consumers and the shopping experience.  We’ll call on your experience in answering critical questions related to a client’s targeting, engagement, and conversion efforts across the physical and digital retail landscape.  You will lead outside research vendors, when necessary, to help us better understand what’s really happening at retail.  And you will help the agency leverage client and third-party data to create breakthrough retail experiences.

  • Journey Design:

You will help shape the consumer journey in retail, designing experiences that feel intuitive, and deliver customer delight.  You will help our clients think about every element of the customer’s journey, from retail promotion to the payment experience, to deliver on both brand experience and business objectives.

  • Interactive Environments:

You will help us create the retail environments of the future, combining the physical and the digital retail experience in innovative new ways.  You will help our clients understand the ever-changing possibilities at the nexus of technology and creativity, bringing a new level of personalization and interactivity to all kinds of retail environments.

  • Analysis & Reporting:

From KPI development to leveraging AI for predictive analytics, our focus is squarely on making sure the work we do delivers business results for our clients. In this role, you will lead and help develop an offering of consistent, insightful, action-oriented data analysis and reporting to help our clients measure and improve their retail experiences.

Other qualifications include:

  • 15+ years’ experience as a strategic leader in the retail space
  • Senior-level agency-side account management and leadership experience
  • Strong track record in building and managing teams across disciplines and geographies
  • Experience working with technology partners, systems integrators, and navigating global, highly-matrixed organizations
  • Highly collaborative, thick-skinned, curious, and open to direction
