Level 1 Mobile Phone Technician

Job Description

As a technician you are expected to make cosmetic repairs, check and diagnose faults, perform flashing of handsets and function test, change batteries/accessories and liaise between other senior technicians, be computer literate and be adaptable to change within this role.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Practice Electro Static Discharge awareness in order to prevent accidental damage to equipment
  • Perform basic fault finding
  • Eliminate blacklisting, SIM card or network problems to ensure fault lies with the handset, or accessories
  • Perform functionality checks in order to eliminate user error
  • Ascertain the warranty status of a handset in order to eliminate damaged equipment
  • Perform functional test of handset using RF test equipment and PC in order to ascertain the nature of the defect/s (where applicable)
  • Perform software related/cosmetic repair to handsets in order to remedy diagnosed fault
  • Enter job details via TIM in order to maintain repairs database
  • Repair to manufacturers guidelines
  • Support team as and when necessary
  • Achieve agreed targets as specified in order to meet the requirements of the business
  • Maintain your equipment including anti static checks, regular calibration and the installation of software upgrades
  • Use own initiative to improve performance and quality of line
  • Ensure you meet all business KPI’s.

Success will be measured by Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) set around key areas of responsibility;

  • In order to support the five fundamental rules of the company, the Repairs Department must repair all customer mobile handsets and have the unit back with the customer within 14 days in satisfactory working order.
  • You will be working on an individual test bench having the necessary equipment to fulfil the role, and have access to specialist equipment within the workshop.
  • You will be expected to attend training sessions when required to do so.
  • You will be measured against the achievement of a high level of quality

Essential:

  • Previous experience in repairs department
  • Flexible to working hours-as suited to the needs of the business
  • PC Literate
  • Be able to work from own initiative
  • Good time and attendance

Other skills:

  • Competent using office 2010
  • Good communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop themselves
The hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 09:00-18:00, 40 hours a week.
