Level 2 Mobile Phone Technician
Job Description
As a level 2 Technician, your responsibility will be:
- To perform diagnostic and high level repairs to mobile handsets above the standard required.
- Practice Electro Static Discharge awareness in order to prevent accidental damage to equipment
- Eliminate blacklisting, SIM card or network problems to ensure fault lies with the handset, or accessories
- Perform functionality checks in order to eliminate user error
- Ascertain the warranty status of a handset in order to eliminate damaged equipment
- Perform functional test of handset using RF test equipment and PC in order to ascertain the nature of the defect/s (where applicable)
- Perform mechanical/cosmetic repair to handsets in order to remedy diagnosed fault
- Enter job details via TiM in order to maintain repairs database
- Reflow circuit board components to effect repairs
- Perform component repair in order to effect repairs
- Perform the replacement of complex components in order to effect repairs
- Perform in depth fault analysis in order to effect repairs
- Repair to manufacturers guidelines in order to effect repairs
- Support Product Support team and level 2 Engineers as and when necessary in order to enhance the skill base of the workshop
- Carry out soldering work where required in order to effect repairs
- Achieve agreed targets as specified in order to meet the requirements of the business
- Perform in-depth electronic fault finding techniques
- Ability to read and understand electronic schematics
Success will be measured by Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) set around key areas of responsibility:
- In order to support the Repairs Department, all customer mobile handsets must be repaired and back with the customer within 14 days, in satisfactory working order.
- You will be working on an individual test bench having the necessary equipment to fulfil the role, and have access to specialist equipment within the workshop.
- You are required to work as member of a team.
- You will be expected to attend training sessions when required to do so.
- You will be measured against the achievement of a high level of quality and targets
Essential:
- HND in Electronics
- Competent in the use and understanding of Oscilloscopes, Spectrum analysers, and RF test equipment
- Be able to work from own initiative
- Flexible and able to work additional hours during busy periods
- PC Literate
Desirable:
- Proven track record in successful L2 repair
- FTY rate consistently above 95%
- L3 cover experience/exposure
Preferred Skills
- Minimum Level 2 City and Guilds/NVQ electronics qualification
- Be able to work from own initiative
The hours for this position are Monday to Friday, 09:00 - 18:00, 40 hours a week.
