This is a newly created Senior Property Accountant role, which will take the lead on accounting and associated contract administration for our Leased Agricultural Assets, managed by Warakirri Asset Management.

Warakirri Asset Management is a leading Australian funds manager, offering specialist investment vehicles and services to retail and wholesale investors with a focus on ethical investment, actively managed agriculture, and equities. We are a private company, 100% owned by our directors and employees, and we have a Board of Directors with majority independent director representation.

Job Description

The Senior Property Accountant will join our Finance Team and will broadly take responsibility for the following elements:

  • Reconcile and understand all financial accounts, ensuring monthly and annual financial statements are accurate and insightful.
  • Oversee accounts receivable and payable processes, including rent invoicing and CAPEX claims, to streamline and improve efficiency.
  • Complete monthly bank reconciliations and monitor fund performance, contributing to key financial metrics and strategic decisions.
  • Ensure all GST and other legislated taxes are reconciled and remitted, staying on top of regulatory requirements.
  • Manage annual property and fund budget processes, including rent reviews, and play a critical role in financial planning.
  • Assist with year-end audit processes and tax filings, providing essential support to fund and asset managers.
  • Oversee financial transactions related to property settlements and sales, ensuring smooth and efficient processes.
  • Maintain asset registers and manage asset insurance policies, safeguarding our valuable investments.

Qualifications

About you

  • Relevant degree and holding CA, CPA or equivalent.
  • Minimum 4-5 years accounting experience; with as least some of those years in property accounting or a real estate investment trust required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; ability to develop and sustain cooperative working relationships; team player.
  • Ability to allocate time effectively, work under pressure, and meet tight deadlines; ability to handle multiple demands and competing priorities; ability to prioritise workload; attention to detail; willingness to learn in a dynamic environment that includes new ideas and change.
  • Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office Suite and SAP.
