Job Description

Job Responsibilities

Core job responsibilities within the Engineering Department at Vorbeck for a Senior Associate, Engineering – RF Engineer are to:

  • Responsible for the architecture, design, integration, and testing of RF circuits and systems, electromagnetic interference (EMI) mitigation, radar absorbent materials, and other RF based applications
  • Perform system-level RF analysis, including EMI/EMC, link budgets, propagation effects, and co-site analysis
  • RF design and simulation using CST Microwave Studio Suite, including antennas, antenna systems, FSS, EM hardening, RCS reduction, etc.
  • Design, develop, and implement test plans, test fixtures, and quality control methods
  • Manage project deliverables, milestones, and budgets
  • Contribution to the development of technical data packages for product production
  • Support in field tests and demonstrations
  • Other responsibilities and duties as required
  • Travel (expected) 5%-10%

Qualifications

Qualifications/Skills

Desired qualifications and skills for a Senior Associate, Engineering – RF Engineer are:

  • Knowledge of antenna design including linearly and circularly polarized antennas, dipole antennas, monopole antennas, patch antennas, Yagi antennas, etc.
  • Experience with anechoic chamber testing and data analysis of antennas
  • Knowledge of frequency selective surface design, simulation, and testing
  • RF front end experience including PCB design, amplifiers, filters, etc. for high frequency applications
  • Knowledge of hardening electronics and devices against electromagnetic radiation
  • Experience with MIL-STD-461 radiated susceptibility and radiated emissions testing
  • Extensive experience with CST Microwave Studio Suite including different solver types, antenna simulation, EMI/EMC simulation, FSS simulation, EMP simulation, RCS simulation, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability and creativity to solve challenging technical problems
  • Ability to lead fast paced technical teams
  • Past performance in project management of engineering and research projects
  • Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills and strong technical writing ability
  • Other highly desired skills that are considered a significant plus:
    • Design and development of RF circuits with microcontrollers, FPGAs, and/or DSPs
    • Design and development of advanced antenna designs, i.e., electronically steered arrays, metamaterials, etc.
    • Use of AI or other novel techniques for antenna design and optimization
  • Possess or have ability to obtain a Secret or higher clearance with US Dept. of Defense

Education and Experience

Desired education and experience for a Senior Associate, Engineering – RF Engineer are:

  • BS degree in electrical engineering or a related field
  • Master’s degree or PhD in electrical engineering or a related field is a significant plus
  • Three to five years’ experience in an RF engineering environment
