Job Description
Responsibilities:
- The management of the Direct Labor force supporting the delivery of customer projects at the facility in Tracy, California
- Collaborate with VBC’s Design, Construction and Manufacturing Standards functions on developing and implementing comprehensive manufacturing policies and procedures.
- Implementing Lean methodology (maximize productivity, minimize waste, ensure quality, and reduce operation costs) and create a culture and process for continuous improvement
- Develop project-specific manufacturing plans that support the business’s targets (e.g., budget, design requirements)Develop labor model and establish takt times for each station to balance the line and ensure smooth operations and output
- Track performance against company wide KPIs and measure plant-specific KPIs to drive operational efficiency (safety, quality, delivery, and cost)
- Oversee assembly line station requirements and ensure they are fully equipped from a manpower, equipment and methodology perspective.
- Work closely with Quality teams on ensuring the minimum quality standards are communicated to and implemented by the production teams.
- Develop and maintain production schedules and ensure are updated and communicated consistently within the organization.
- Create and reinforce a culture of teamwork and actively resolves conflicts within the team
- Work closely with the Production Supervisors to ensure they are appropriately staffed, effectively trained and are coordinated on all production-related matters, including, material consumption, work instructions, safety and manufacturing standards.
- Work with the VP of Manufacturing on ensuring monthly revenue targets are planned for, monitored and tracked.
- Work with Purchasing and Material teams to measure and minimize damage, waste, and scrap
- Work with the Purchasing and Material Handling teams on ensuring min level of materials are maintained at all times.
- Work with the HR team on ensuring production teams are fully staffed at all times.
- Always seek opportunities to reduce cost and increase productivity across all assembly line stations.
- Ensure all employees follow industry standard health and safety guidelines
- Provide motivation, support, and guidance to all employees
- Maintain consistent reporting rhythm with corporate as agreed to.
- Work with the Product Development and Manufacturing Compliance teams on ensuring appropriate means and methods are followed on all VBC standards and new product installations.
- Ensure any required training programs are provided to the Manufacturing teams, where needed.
- Work with Production Supervises on creating schedules for employees to ensure optimum staffing levels
- Establish a long-term train-the-trainer program
- Maintaining all production related documentation
- Ensure final product(s) meets quality standards and customer specifications
Qualifications
- A minimum of 10+ years of manufacturing management experience, with 5+ years leading supervisors, leads, and direct labor, preferably in the modular construction industry.
- Experience with construction, building systems, and/or building materials to understand design intent and collaborate with Design and Building Systems teams A “self-starter" - you can execute your goals with minimal direction
- Resourceful – you can operate in an entrepreneurial environment, and take the initiative to get things done
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel required
- Experience overseeing a highly automated production facility
- Proven track record of successfully training employees in productivity and safety
- Working knowledge of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations in California
- Excellent time management skills
- Excellent coaching and mentorship skills
- English speaking required, Spanish speaking a plus
Additional Information
The Salary Range for this position is $198,000 - $224,000 annual base salary + annual performance bonus. We also off the following benefits:
