Job Description

As a battery cell integration engineer you will play a pivotal role in our mission to bring cutting edge battery technology to series maturity. Your extensive know-how and experience in battery cell technology including electrochemical working principles, cell safety, testing methods, processes and devices are the perfect supplementation for our battery development team.

Your mission during this flight:

  • You will plan and perform cell qualification, performance, endurance and characterization tests
  • You will interpret cell test results and prepare compliance documents for certification
  • You will manage cell integration into battery pack and create documentation according to aerospace standards
  • You will manage cell requirement and ensure effective communication with suppliers
  • You will coordinate cell activities and lead discussions in an interdisciplinary project team
  • You will collabotate with Volocopter’s airworthiness teams as well as with regulatory authorities.

Qualifications

  • Degree in electrical engineering with specialization in material science or chemistry
  • At least 5 years of experience with cell development, integration, testing or production
  • Solid understanding of cell internal chemical effects and battery packs for high voltage applications
  • Experience working with high power and high energy dense cell chemistries
  • Systematic cell selection and requirements definition experience
  • 3-5 years of experience in working with cell suppliers
  • Teamplayer ability, organizational and effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Preferred skills:

  • Knowhow about cell safety assessment
  • Knowhow about cell simulation (electrical, mechanical, thermal) and cell characterization 
  • Battery regulation experience, preferably aerospace (e.g. DO-311, ED-289)
