Here at Volocopter, we are the pioneers of electric air taxis (electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft - eVTOLs). We have pledged to bring urban air mobility to life by getting electric air taxis and other eVTOLs off the ground in a way that complements existing transportation options in megacities across the globe. Job Description

Your crew during this flight:

As Finance Business Partner for our R&D and CTO functions, you will be part of our controlling and FP&A department. You will be creating, maintaining, and driving processes and tools to directly support our decision-making for our technology teams while you will analyze drivers and trends of our business segments, reflect these in short- and long-term financial planning and provide our business owners the insights and guidance they need to successfully steer the company. This role offers you the opportunity to contribute to the financial success of an innovative company.

Onsite presence in either Bruchsal or Munich is required, with travels between our development hubs.

Your mission during this flight:

  • You will be the sparring-partner for the CTO and the functional leads (e.g. Chief Engineer, Project Managers, Directors/Heads of Propulsion, Methods, Avionics, Mechanical Engineering, Flight Test, IP, Aircraft, Flight Science)
  • You will implement automated, scalable and analytical reports to facilitate data driven decision-making across all levels of the organization
  • You will be responsible for execution of budget & forecasting process for all functions, including regular performance reviews
  • You will be responsible to ensure global system and process maturity, while continuously working on standardization and improvements, technical and procedural
  • You will be responsible in maintaining our project structure data in financial systems and project accounting for personnel and other expenses (e.g. capitalization of development expenses)
  • You will participate in capacity planning
  • You will be working strongly together with our Production, Supply Chain and Certification departments to establish unit costing
  • You will contribute to our monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial closure

 

Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • Particularly strong background in project and R&D controlling is desirable, ideally in aviation, automotive, space tech or biotech industries for 5+ years
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment like a start-up or scale up desirable; ideally experience with controlling in a matrix framework
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate with top and extended leadership team; work cross-functionally effectively with production, product, commercial and certification colleagues
  • Experience with implementation of modern and digital FP&A department/services based on state-of-the-art technology
  • Have a minimum IFRS accounting understanding to connect the Financial Statements (P&L, Cash Flow, Balance Sheet, Equity) and project accounting
  • Degree with a focus on finance, controlling, FP&A, or related fields; MBA, PhD, CMA or CPA are a plus
  • Willingness for business travels between our development hubs in Munich and Bruchsal, Germany
  • Fluent in English
