We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring Urban Air Mobility to life, by establishing air taxis in addition to current transportation options in megacities globally. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. Your mission during this flight:
As Lead Software Developer Battery Data Services & Analytics at Volocopter, you are part of the Digital Department working as an integral part of our Software Developer Team. You are technically responsible for the implementation of features in your team based on Volocopter’s electrical drive train setup and analyze the battery behavior over all flight scenarios and lifetime to better understand aging effects, temperature implications and to derive specific use cases. You drive and sketch out the architecture in your team’s work on data topics and implement applications to manage the battery operations to ensure battery utilization, charging management and network flow. All of this you do following our Data Mesh Architecture, in a product team that has end to end responsibility, including the Frontends and Backends needed for the Product to provide value to the enduser.

• You design and build advanced, data-driven applications for the VoloIQ in one of the product teams
• You collaborate with the developers in your cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features
• You write tests on multiple layers for robustness, including edge cases, usability, and general reliability
• You work on bug fixing and improving application stability & performance
• You support the entire application lifecycle (concept, design, test, release and support)
• You stay up-to-date with new technology trends, and promote what we do to the outside

Required skills:

• A degree in computer science or a comparable education
• 10 years+ working experience software development in Python, Kotlin or TypeScript
• Hands-on experience with third-party libraries, products and APIs (Spring Boot, Dash, PACT, Kafka, Snowflake, Chakra-UI, React, and more)
• Versed knowledge of OOP and FP paradigms, and you know when to use which
• Deep understanding of the full development life cycle
• Working knowledge of the general cloud landscape, architectures, trends, and emerging technologies
• Previous experience with Battery System Modelling and Battery Management Systems
• Reliability, ability to work in a team, and a high level of customer orientation paired with an independent working method

Preferred skills:

• Experience as tech lead in a team
• Prior working experience with an organization following data mesh paradigms
• Experience with aviation software certification processes
• Aerospace or automotive background
