We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring Urban Air Mobility to life, by establishing air taxis in addition to current transportation options in megacities globally. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. In 2011 we performed the first-ever piloted flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale Volocopter (www.volocopter.com).

Your mission during this flight:

As Head of Software Development at Volocopter, you will be part of the CDO Resort and lead the software development unit. You will work together with our product owners, partners, and UI/UX experts on high-quality software solutions.

• Mentoring development teams on reliability and security best practices, speeding up the development cycle by designing state of the art CI/CD pipelines
• Monitoring the infrastructure and continuously improve the quality, scalability, and performance of the CI/CD system
• Developing cloud-native software according to modern principles
• Integrate Big Data data sources and transformations
• You will have the technological freedom to deliver the best solution to the requirements
• Take architectural decisions with your team to ensure a high degree of performance, robustness, and maintainability of the service
• You will share your knowledge with your team colleagues helping them and therefore you contribute to the growth of the whole team
• You coach, motivate, and shape the team to complete projects successfully
• Support your team members in developing their individual strengths and promote the overall team development as a self-organizing, agile team
• Take responsibility for the resource planning of your team and ensure the smooth flow and continuous improvement of the development process
• Work closely with product managers, stakeholders, and the team to prioritize product requirements and deliver the project
• Participate in the development and quality assurance of software products 

Check in your professional skills:

• You have a degree in computer science or comparable education and have at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in a corporate environment or consultancy
• Excellent coding skills in modern API and object-oriented software design
• Experience in concept, design, and implementation of software architectures 
• You have a broad understanding of technology and concepts, e.g. containerization, cloud-native architectures, infrastructure as code, etc.
• Working knowledge about software development and testing standards and techniques
• Self-driven and able to work independently as a member of an agile team
• Experience with agile projects and methodologies
• Strong analytical skills, results-oriented work, and an inner drive to implement new ideas in a pragmatic way
• Excellent communication, coordination, and presentation skills in English and German
• Aerospace background is a plus
• Reliability, ability to work in a team, and a high level of customer orientation paired with an independent working method
