Job Description

Your mission during this flight:

As System Design Engineer you be in charge of the design of our Flight Control System running on Heavy Lift Utility Drones which will make a breakthrough in the transportation industry – the VoloDrones. You will design, implement, verify and integrate the FCS allowing deployment of our VoloDrones all over the world.

You are a design engineer experienced in the development of aviation-grade flight control systems. Within a multi-disciplinary team, you participate in the system requirements definitions, the hardware architecture definition, the definition and validation of the environmental condition, and the supplier evaluation and system verification leading to the system integration in our aircraft.

  • Design the hardware and interface of the FCS
  • Participate in the development, validation and integration of the FCS
  • Create high-level systems specifications and requirements in coordination and alignment with various internal departments
  • Coordinate and manage external suppliers involved in components of the FCS
  • Assist in bench test and flight test activities

Qualifications

Check in your professional skills:

  • MSc or Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering, Robotics or related
  • Minimum 5 years of proven experience in system engineering for complex, high-reliability systems (preferably aviation-related)
  • Understanding of the verification and validation aspects of aviation
  • Experience working with ARP4754A, DO-254, and DO-160 (or equivalent standards from safety-critical industries)
  • Experience with digital communication standards (e.g. SPI, I²C, UART, CAN …) or aerospace standards (e.g. ARINC429, ARINC825)
  • Self-starter with the ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team, hands-on attitude
  • Fluent in English (German is a plus)

Preferred skills:

  • Experience in system integration in an aircraft/helicopter or on a small UAV
  • Experience in PCB design and manufacturing is plus
  • Development experience in MATLAB/Simulink
