Job Description

Within a highly motivated, multi-disciplinary core team, you are in charge of managing the development and prototyping of Volocopters next-generation electrical propulsion system and its technologies. Reporting to our Chief Engineer Volo Next Generation, you are a key member of the development team located in Oberpfaffenhofen, near Munich.

Your Tasks

  • Modifying, developing, and maintaining software layers for safety-critical hardware components of Flight Control System according to aerospace software guidelines
  • Evaluating autogenerated flight control code and measuring its execution time in the flight control computer
  • Manage and develop the software for establishing Processor-in-the-Loop, Hardware-in-the-Loop setups for closed-loop testing of the flight control system
  • Manage and develop the hardware-in-the-loop bench setup perform systematic validation & verification tests
  • Assisting in the development of Ground Control Station and flight tests of a new aircraft type
  • Work closely with the flight control systems

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Robotics or similar
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in developing real-time embedded software for different hardware platforms and operating systems
  • Experience in aircraft avionics system network
  • Experience developing I/O drivers for various communication protocols (ARINC429, ARINC825, UART, I2C, SPI, etc.)
  • Experience with RTOS and performing code evaluation
  • Familiar with DO-178C and other aerospace standards is a plus
  • Knowledge of MATLAB/Simulink and autogenerated code is a plus
  • Knowledge of electrical propulsion system and low-voltage network is a plus
  • Knowledge in setting up HIL-test benches including test procedures
  • Hands-on attitude
  • Fluent in English, German is a plus
  • Self-motivated and ability to communicate with different teams
