Job Description

Your mission during this flight: 

As a Prototype Aircraft Mechanic / Technician, you will be part of our highly motivated, multi-disciplinary prototyping assembly team. Your mission is to work on our VoloCity aircraft prototypes throughout the complete assembly line, to manufacture and assemble component prototypes and share important feedback as part of our production team. For this role, we are looking for someone who is either electrical or mechanical biased, willing to work in a multi-disciplinary, dynamic environment and open to learn and develop new skill along the complete assembly line of eVTOL aircrafts.

Your Tasks:

  • You assemble, modify and repair our Volocopter aircraft and component prototypes
  • You work on the final assembly of individual components and prefabrication to build the full aircraft
  • You manufacture, install and repair Avionics and EWIS Systems
  • You take care of mechanical assembly and installation of aircrafts components incl. working on composite components and aircraft structures (e.g. installation of structural fasteners, repair, drilling, reaming, grinding)
  • You carry out system tests, fault diagnosis and rectification
  • You coordinate work between different functional units
  • You assist in maintenance activities of flying aircraft to support flight test and maintenance teams in test campaigns
  • You assist in background activities (incl. work preparation, documentation, preparation of materials, etc.)

Qualifications

Required:

  • Formal training and minimum 3 years’ experience in aircraft production or maintenance either with a mechanical or electrical focus
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical drawings
  • Ability to use a drawing to manufacture an assembly or carry out an installation independently
  • Ability to select the correct tools to carry out production tasks
  • Experience in working in a fast-changing project environment, e.g in the research and development phase
  • Experience in manufacturing and installing harnesses and avionics components
  • Experience in working with composite materials

Preferred:

  • 2+ years experience in a prototyping environment
  • Involvement in setting up and standardizing new processes
  • Experience in dealing with metallic structures (e.g wielding, machining)
  • Experience in working in a Production Organization (PO)
  • Completed training as a light aircraft builder, aircraft mechanic (EASA CAT-A or CAT-B License), or comparable
