We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring Urban Air Mobility to life, by establishing air taxis in addition to current transportation options in megacities globally. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. In 2011 we performed the first-ever manned flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with our full-scale Volocopter.  

You will be part of our Composites Manufacturing team, which is responsible for making the structures of the Volocopter VoloCity real. 

The Composites -Mold Design- Engineer will be responsible for the design and manufacturing of all molds and assembly devices along the entire process chain which are necessary for the build-up of the VoloCity. 

Your Role 

You create concepts and designs for molds and devices to produce composite components and assemblies. You work closely with our departments of product development and production as well as with external cooperation partners. 

Your Tasks:

• Drive “Design for Manufacturing” for serial production standard
• Designing composite Layup and curing tools considering several technologies like Prepreg and Resin Transfer Molding
• Designing main assembly and subassembly jig fixtures
• Establishment of robust production processes and prove rate capability
• Managing cooperation with external mold design and manufacturing companies

• Mechanical or Process Engineering degree or equivalent 
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the field of composite moulds design as well as in the design of assembly devices 
• Comprehensive and detailed know-how with CAD tools (ideally Siemens NX) 
• English on a conversational level  
• Experience in project management is an advantage
