Based on our modular Volocopter platform and building on the technical expertise derived from more than 8 years of developing innovative aircraft, our team of world-class engineers has built the first fully functional demonstrator of a heavy-lift cargo drone: our VoloDrone. With its introduction in 2019, we are expanding our activities to a variety of new fields like logistics, infrastructure, and agriculture. In doing so, we effectively use significant synergies, while at the same time offering a great deal of freedom in the development of a new business segment within the Volocopter Group.

Your Tasks:

You are the key entrepreneur for our new utility drone, responsible for bringing the VoloDrone business to life by shaping the product development and go-to-market strategies as well as establishing the required organizational capabilities. 

• You are the entrepreneur within Volocopter to successfully spin-off the new VoloDrone business building on the existing Volocopter technology platform
• You are expanding and leading the VoloDrone team by establishing a compelling vision & strategy
• You have full control and responsibility for a multi-million-euro budget 
• You are part of the executive leadership team at Volocopter, reporting directly to the CEO
• You work closely with the VoloDrone Chief Engineer to define the product requirements and implement our ambitious product development roadmap
• You explore and define the go-to-market approach for VoloDrone with an aim for early commercialization and subsequent scale-up 
• You establish strategic partnerships, attract pilot customers, as well as identify and select prioritized use cases for our VoloDrone
• You continuously screen for, align and implement synergy potentials between VoloDrone and our manned aircraft projects

• You have a (Business) Engineering, Economics or equivalent degree
• Minimum of 5-10 years of experience of leading teams to commercialize high-tech products for international markets, especially in the fields of drones, logistics, or related industries
• Successful track record of achievements in relevant fields; results-driven, high-sense of responsibility
• Great communicator with a clear vision and extensive and relevant experience and network
• Team player and high social skills
• Successful experience in leading and developing high-performing teams
• Experiences in high-growth environments (e.g. startup), management consulting, and the aviation sector (incl. certification) are a plus
• Affinity to technology and aviation (especially UAV) beneficial
• Experience in large-scale B2B sales is a plus
