We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). Your mission during this flight:

As Head of Prototyping, you will be in charge of building up the next generation aircrafts. You will be an essential part of the Supply Chain Leadership team at Volocopter, and you will focus on the main strategic and tactical questions to drive the value and growth of our business in all prototyping-related questions. Moreover, you will help to guide Volocopter’s next steps into certifiable serial production

• Develop, hire, and lead the prototyping team and oversee the prototyping facilities
• Ensure compliance with our prototyping procedures and create new methods to improve the prototype workshop considering regulatory and technical requirements (e.g., data transfer, technical and quality standards)
• Daily business: Support the team in planning, organizing, and scheduling work incl. coordinating the exchange and collaboration with the engineering teams
• Support search for suppliers at prototyping stage and review supplier assessments
• Be accountable for resource and project planning
• Expand and improve the current setup of the prototyping environment, reviewing and challenging all manufacturing processes with a view of implementing lean and continuous improvement
• Ensure implementation of all relevant quality assurance steps, in close coordination with Quality Management of DOA and POA

Check in your professional skills:

• Mechanical or aeronautical engineering degree or equivalent
• Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in prototyping, maintenance and/or production environment, or quality management background
• Minimum of 3 years of professional experience in aerospace industry
• Participation in at least one aircraft type certification program and experience in interfacing Prototyping and Design
• Successful experience in leading and developing a team
• Comprehensive and detailed knowledge of Design and Production Organization, maintenance, and production procedures according to 21J/145/21G
• High command of Quality Management and Quality Assurance principles in Aerospace industry

Preferred skills:

• Experience in prototyping processes from running full aircraft projects in relation to an EASA approved Design Organization
• Experience in high-volume, automated manufacturing environments including planning and execution during production ramp-up
• Experience in communication with aviation authorities
• Excellent analysis and evaluation skills with a drive to challenge the status quo
• Strong communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
• Comfortable with taking ownership of projects independently
• High level of flexibility and efficiency
