We at Volocopter are pioneers in the development of electrical air taxis that take off and land vertically (eVTOLs). We bring Urban Air Mobility to life, by establishing air taxis in addition to current transportation options in megacities globally. Our aim is to offer affordable on-demand air taxi services and save people time by flying them safely to their destination. In 2011 we performed the first-ever manned flight of a purely electrical multicopter and have since showcased numerous public flights with its full-scale Volocopter (www.volocopter.com).

In this position your duties will be to act as part of the Office of Airworthiness and to develop all aspects related to operation of the Volocopter aircraft. This will include the analysis of all relevant Flight Standards requirements imposed by EASA and other major aviation authorities and to conduct gap analysis with respect to the operation of an eVTOL aircraft in commercial air transport. You will generate solutions to timely close the identified gaps and will initiate the coordination with all relevant authorities.
The result of your work will be the basis for Volocopter to set up the formal operating organization and to obtain all required approvals on time to ensure seamless usage of the Volocopter aircraft, as soon as Type Certified. Throughout the development phase of the project you will coordinate any required operational approval for flight testing or conduct of demo missions with local and international authorities, as required.

Your Tasks:

• Analysis of Flight Standards requirements for relevance to Volocopter
• Development of solutions to enable use of the Volocopter eVTOL aircraft in commercial air transport.
• Coordination of solutions with EASA, National Aviation Authorities and other relevant Agencies
• Development and maintenance of the Concept of Operations, through development, flight test demo flights and route proofing to commercial operation
• Drafting of organization exposition drafts and related procedures in preparation of organizational approvals
• Conduct of internal training activities with respect to operations
• Representation of Volocopter interests and active participation in international industry standardization committees drafting standards for eVTOL aircraft operation

• Masters degree (or equivalent) in aviation (or related discipline)
• 5 years of experience in coordinating aircraft operations, preferably Helicopter operation with a high frequency of flights, HEMS or other special operations
• Thorough knowledge of the applicable flight standards requirements applicable to operations in Europe
• Knowledge of the applicable flight standards requirements in major aviation markets outside of Europe
• Knowledgeable in implementing SMS to aircraft operations
• Knowledgeable in defining processes for aircraft operations, generating and implementation of organizational expositions required to obtain operational approvals
• Fluent English in reading, writing and speaking
• Excellent communication skills, proficient in guiding and coaching colleagues with respect to operations of aircraft
