Job Type: Full Time

Schedule: Ability to work nights and weekends as needed. Part-time and volunteer training will be in the evenings outside traditional business hours. 

Location: Baltimore, MD or Washington, DC

Travel: The ability to travel to different Volo cities is required, up to 40% of the time. All travel expenses are covered by Volo.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Ongoing training and program development go hand in hand to play a critical role in the success of Volo Cities. The Training Coordinator will play a pivotal role in this success, through management and coordination of training activities for Volo teams (focusing on Part-Time Staff and Volunteers) to meet the demands of the aforementioned growth.

As a member of the Product Team, this individual will work with the National Product Director & Training Director to develop a training and programmatic strategy, and execute on this strategy. This team will work in close collaboration with City Leads, the Volo Kids Foundation, and the Product Development Team, to ensure integration, alignment and continued development for new and existing products. 

The training team will develop and execute:

  • Centralized staff training and development for part-time staff, volunteers, and interns

    • Design and develop training content, coordinate training logistics; and deliver onsite and web-based training for part-time staff, volunteers and interns nationally.

    • Work with City Managing Directors, Staffing Managers, and Volunteer Coordinators to ensure training needs are identified, planned, aligned and addressed.

    • Support the training team in the development of training plans and content. 

    • Communicate training plans and content with city staffing managers.

    • Support staffing managers with part-time staff training logistics and content individualization.

    • Support Kids Foundation Coordinators with volunteer training logistics.

    • Adjust/improve curricula for existing products based on product changes and enhancements.

    • Work with Product Development to develop training for new products and platforms for internal and external consumers (customers and staff). 

    • Provide in-person support based on city needs, such as part-time staff training and product launches.

    • Support training team and cities in identifying training needs, and ensure training resources and facilities are available to meet demands.

    • Monitors training reports within Learning Management System for the respective roles to assure that initial and annual training is assigned and completed on time for each role and individual staff members

    • Support performance management tool development tied to part-time staff, interns and volunteers

  • Recruitment, retention and appreciation efforts for Part-Time staff, Interns and Volunteers.

    • Support company committee initiatives focused on culture and diversity and inclusion as they relate to part-time staff, interns and volunteers

    • Support market efforts for recognition and appreciation of staff

    • Provide best practices and recommendations to cities around recognition, retention and support of part-time staff 

Qualifications

MUST-HAVES

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of professional experience

  • Experience in sport or event management 

  • Ability to work nights and weekends

  • Can marshal resources effectively and comfortably 

  • Can navigate a fast-paced, ever-changing environment with minimal supervision

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Dynamic personality interested in working in, and contributing to, a fun and active sporting environment
