Job Description
We’re seeking a Senior Finance Analyst to join our dynamic SMGB Finance team, supporting the nationally recognised Smokemart & GiftBox business. Reporting to the SMGB Finance Manager, this role is ideal for a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys partnering closely with operational leaders to influence outcomes and drive performance.
In this role, you’ll work alongside the SMGB leadership team, delivering high‑quality financial analysis, insights, and reporting to support decision‑making across a multi‑site retail network and wholesale distribution business. You’ll have exposure to both strategic and operational finance, playing a key role in identifying opportunities, managing risks, and improving commercial outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the SMGB management team to provide financial insights and performance analysis.
- Prepare and maintain cashflow and working capital forecasts.
- Produce accurate financial reports and dashboards for internal stakeholders.
- Analyse financial performance to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Contribute to financial planning, forecasting, and business decision-making.
- Support continuous improvement in financial processes and reporting Support the month-end close process, including variance analysis and commentary
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline; CPA or CA qualification preferred.
- 5–8 years’ experience in Commercial Finance, FP&A, or a similar finance business partnering role; prior audit experience viewed favourably.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with experience using financial systems such as Microsoft Dynamics 365, JD Edwards, Power BI, or TM1 Cognos highly regarded.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to effectively partner with both Finance teams across the Viva Energy Group (both onshore and offshore teams) as well operational stakeholders within Smokemart & Giftbox.
- Highly developed analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to translate data into clear and actionable business insights.
- Adaptable and proactive, able to operate effectively in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality outcomes under pressure.
