Job Description

Role summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations, ensure accurate financial reporting, and support compliance with statutory and internal requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and supporting month-end and year-end close processes. The role requires a candidate with a strong foundation in accounting principles, hands-on experience in financial reporting and reconciliations. Prior audit experience and exposure to the commodity trading industry would be advantageous.

Key responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate and complete accounting records, including preparation of journal entries and general ledger postings
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and supporting schedules
  • Perform balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances in a timely manner
  • Support month-end and year-end closing processes to ensure timely reporting
  • Manage accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliation activities as assigned
  • Assist in the preparation of management reports and financial analysis
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, and statutory requirements in Singapore
  • Coordinate and liaise with external auditors, and other relevant stakeholders during audit and reporting cycles
  • Support the implementation and maintenance of internal controls, accounting policies, and process improvements
  • Assist with audit requests by preparing schedules, documentation, and explanations for key account balances and transactions
  • Participate in ad hoc finance projects and initiatives as required by management

Qualifications

Qualifications & experience:

  • Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or a related discipline with more than 5 years relevant work experience
  • Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA, or CA preferred
  • Prior external audit experience is a plus
  • Prior experience in the commodity trading industry would be an advantage
  • Good understanding of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Team player
