Job Description

The Regional Tax Assistant Manager/Tax Senior Accountant plays an essential role within the APAC Tax team, supporting the Regional Tax Managers on both direct tax and indirect tax compliance for the APAC region, as well as serving as a key liaison between the APAC Tax team and cross-functional business stakeholders on various global and regional tax projects.

Responsibilities: 

  1. Tax Compliance & Provision
  • Assist in preparing tax schedules and managing tax compliance reporting and payment deadlines and other related matters for approximately 25 entities within the APAC region (i.e. GST, VAT, CIT, WHT, TP), including working with external tax consultants and reviewing their deliverables.
  • Assist in preparing monthly tax provisions for Singapore entities.
  • Assist in preparing and liaising with external tax consultants on Assisted Compliance Assurance Programme (“ACAP”) for GST and Tax Risk Management and Control Framework for Corporate Income Tax (“CTRM”).
  • Assist in preparing responses to information requests by tax authorities.
  • Keep abreast of changes and/or developments in tax laws and administrative practices for APAC and analyse the corresponding implications.

 

  1. Tax Process Optimization & Risk Management
  • Support the Regional Tax Managers on tax risk management for APAC, with a primary focus on Singapore entities.
  • Identify opportunities for streamlining and improving direct tax and indirect tax processes to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
  • Design and implement best practices to optimize workflows and ensure compliance with relevant tax regulations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement changes in tax processes, systems and/or compliance requirements, including providing training to internal teams and users on process improvements, ensuring awareness and adherence to compliance standards.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of direct tax and indirect tax processes and internal controls/procedures.

 

  1. Tax Systems & Technology Integration
  • Triage tax issues raised by users to identify root causes and support/resolve accordingly.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and/or external system developers to translate business/tax requirements into technical solutions, as well as to test, implement and enhance tax technology solutions for automation and efficiency.
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies that can improve direct tax and indirect tax processes.

 

Qualifications

Job Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, ACCA or equivalent.
  • 4-6 years of relevant experience in corporate tax and/or GST/VAT, with prior experience in a Big 4 accounting firm or MNC.
  • Knowledge and experience working with technology solutions is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, with the ability to communicate tax technical issues, especially with non-tax professionals.
  • Effective in influencing and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
  • Familiar with tax laws within the APAC region.
  • Proactive and hands-on attitude.
  • Meticulous with keen attention to details.
  • Able to multi-task and work under reasonable pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Team oriented and process driven.
