Job Description

The organisation has experienced strong growth over the last few years and, as a result, we have created a new position. As deputy controller you will be part of Vitol EMEA’s Accounting team. Your core responsibility will be to ensure accounting books properly reflects gross trading PnL in accordance with Vitol’s policies. As such, you will need to leverage your strong accounting backgrounds to analyse the trading ledgers and generate non-routine accounting entries.

Essential job responsibilities:

  • Ensure all physical contracts transactions are properly captured and recorded into the accounting system. Troubleshoot as necessary
  • Ensure derivatives are recorded and supported in accordance with Vitol's policies and controls
  • Prepare and provide meaningful analysis to the various stakeholders to improve decision making
  • Ensure tasks are done with an impeccable level of accuracy and in a timely manner
  • Support continuous improvements around tools, processes and controls
  • Complete special projects and other duties as assigned by management
  • Maintain internal controls and company processes and procedures
  • Support external audits of our yearly financial statements and partnership activities
  • Comply with Vitol’s policies on data confidentiality and security

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in accounting or finance, CPA or CMA required
  • Minimum 6-7 years of relevant financial accounting experience within an international environment is preferred
  • Responsive and able to communicate effectively in both English and French
  • Ability to acquire understanding and absorb new information rapidly
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage tasks to meet deadlines and expectations with minimal supervision
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and high literacy in Excel
  • Ability to learn and use other software tools as required
  • Solid process improvement skills and a proven change agent
  • Committed, efficient and able to work under pressure
